As a volunteer, you’ll help parents and children who live apart spend quality time together in a supportive environment. Your time and compassion can make a lasting difference in fostering these vital family connections.

Who we are looking for

Contact Centre volunteers should be

• Cheerful
• Assertive but not dominant
• Re-assuring
• Able to understand issues that affect separated families
• Able to build relationships while remaining impartial
• Able to deal with difficult situations
• Prepared to work as part of a team
• Aware of and prepared to follow policies and procedures
• Prepared to participate in training events

Basic tasks for volunteers

• Help set up the Centre in advance of people arriving
• Prepare and serve refreshments
• Welcoming the Centre’s users and visitors
• Registering everyone on the premises
• Helping parents to interact with their children
• Reassure children who may be feeling nervous
• Keeping a watchful eye throughout the Centre
• Clean and check toys if necessary
• Keep toy cupboards tidy
• Report on contact at the end of a session
• Tidy up once the Contact Centre has closed
